MUUSA: LIGHT FOR CORONA-ERA MUSIC MAKERS

When the corona hit and crippled practically the entire events and culture industry, a company in southern Ostrobothnia decided to invite a band from Seinäjoki to play music. The result was the delicate and melodic Muusa: single, which was released on Spotify on 5 April.

- The cultural and music sectors are in dire straits because of the pandemic. It is easy for me to identify with the position of the creators, as I myself have worked in the music industry and as an event organiser for over a decade. I started to think about how our company could help creators in this very challenging situation for everyone. I hope they like the song we commissioned," says Jukka Asp, Managing Director of KVS Valaistussuunnittelu Oy.

Jukka issued a challenge to Terhi Tikkamäki and her band ENNE. Terhi has previously made music under the artist name Zerafia .

- ENNE has released 7 singles in the last couple of years, some of them with music videos. Just as the band was getting into the swing of selling out gigs, the chorus hit. The collaboration proposed by KVS Ltd came as a godsend. We are extremely grateful and very happy for this opportunity. We are looking forward to seeing how the fruit of our collaboration will be received," says Terhi.

- Jukka wanted the lyrics of the song to be multi-dimensional. We struggled with the lyrics for a long time.

KVS specialises in demanding lighting solutions and electricity, as well as wholesale business in the field.

- The object of this piece, the muse, can be conceived as any source of creativity: as light, music or an object of romantic love. The last verse sings about challenges and not giving up in the face of them. This guideline applies not only to the process of creation, but also to the times we live in now," Terhi reflects.

There are other ways to get art or culture than buying tickets to events. What is needed now is the will, creativity and enterprise of all concerned. Just a few thousand euros can pay for an album or other work and support its creators at the same time.

- So I challenge all entrepreneurs to be creative and think about how we can help each other through these challenging times," says Jukka Asp.
