Colour of light
People often wonder about the appropriate lighting shade, is a warm or cold shade better?
Kelvin (K) is the colour of white light. The higher the Kelvin value, the colder the light.
1700K-3500K Warm white (dark/yellowish white)
4000K-4500K Natural white (pure white)
5000K-6000K Daylight (bluish white)
The choice of colour temperature is influenced by the needs of the space, in places where the work is precise the lighting should be bright and cool, while in residential buildings the emphasis is on personal preference. In addition, the size of the space and adequate colour rendering index (CRI) should be taken into account.
The colour temperature of a normal light bulb is usually around 2500K, which is warm white. Today, a cleaner white light colour of around 4000K is desired.
For office spaces, over 4000K is recommended, with daylighting (over 5000K) having the advantage of a brightening effect. In restaurants, warm tones are often used to create atmosphere.
Choice of light colour
- A whiter colour scheme in offices increases efficiency
- For conditions requiring high accuracy, a colour temperature that reproduces daylight is required
- The colour of light affects the appearance of interior design and objects
- Attention adequate colour rendering index (CRI)
- Exterior lighting also takes into account the shade of the facade
The colour of light affects people
Light has a major impact on human hormone production. Intelligent lighting can be used to adjust the tone of the light to support circadian rhythms. In the morning, cool lighting stops the secretion of melatonin, which helps you wake up and work more efficiently. In the evening, warm-toned lighting helps to relax and increase melatonin production. Light also increases serotonin production, which has an impact on mood, learning and well-being.
When you're thinking about lighting colours, remember these:
The warmer light colour relaxes and adds to the atmosphere and comfort. The white shade adds precision to your work, gives a fresh feel and reproduces colours more cleanly.
